2011 xD Review By Joe DeMatio and Evan McCausland of Automobile Magazine

REVIEWS:
2011 Scion xD
December 14, 2010
By Joe DeMatio, Evan McCausland
The Scion xD is a modest little hatchback but
it's very well-executed. I like its looks. I used it
to run errands around town on the day before
Thanksgiving, and I was thrilled with its intown
visibility and the ease with which I slid
into a tight parking space at the alwayscrowded
Ann Arbor Farmers Market. The
ergonomics and utility of the interior are
impressive. Very good steering feel, accurate
and quick. I didn't even mind the automatic
transmission, even though the 1.8-liter fourcylinder
makes a modest 128 hp.
For $16,565, it's a lot of car and also not a lot of car. The carpeting is thin and cheap, and the interior lighting isn't
much. But stability control, ABS, lots of air bags, and a nine-speaker stereo are standard, plus A/C and cruise control.
For this price, I shouldn't be complaining.

I've always viewed the xD (and its xA forebear) as the frumpy sibling of the box-chic xB, but this little hatchback is an
attractive package, especially when compared to the Toyota Yaris five-door. Both are built from the same platform
and drive similarly, but the xD gets an extra 0.3 liter of displacement, and, accordingly, an additional 22 horsepower
underhood.
That isn't a gigantic jump in power, but it's enough to transform a vehicle's personality. The Yaris feels a bit sluggish,
but the xD's 1.8-liter, even when mated with the four-speed automatic, is surprisingly lively. Brisk acceleration,
coupled with decent chassis tuning and impressive steering weight, help lend this subcompact a sporty feel.
Both cars include a long list of standard equipment, but the xD trumps the Toyota here, too; power windows and
locks, cruise control, an impressive Pioneer audio system, and a USB audio input. This, coupled with the extra power
underhood, makes the Scion worth the $750 premium over a comparable Yaris.

Consumer Reports Most Reliable 3rd Year Straight

“Consumer Reports” Predicts Scion As 2011′s Most Reliable Brand

by Toyota in the News on December 16, 2010
2011 Scion xB image
Already known for delivering an unbeatable combination of expressive design and impressive value, Scion is upping the ante for 2011 by offering unsurpassed reliability. And that’s the word from a source that knows a thing or two about reliability: “Consumer Reports.”
The prestigious consumer watchdog recently surveyed more than 5 million readers for its annual automotive reliability ratings, which included rankings of predicted reliability for each automakers’ 2011 models. At the top of the list? None other than the Scion brand!
That means drivers who want a custom-look ride and plenty of personalization options have yet one more reason to try out one of the 2011 Scions, which include:
Reliability chart image
Scion xD—This five-door urban subcompact is now available in the Release Series 3.0 xPRESSO special edition, a limited-run (1,500 units) model that showcases a new xPRESSO exterior color, an exclusive JDM-style bodykit with front and rear lower valances and side skirts, a real carbon-fiber B-pillar applique with xD RS badging, and an individually numbered stainless-steel interior plaque.
Scion xB—The groundbreaking xB is now in its second generation, and it’s still setting the pace for style-minded drivers across the country. Most recently, it was the star of the “Scion Battle of the Builds” contest, which pitted teams of U.S. military personnel against each other to see who could put together the coolest of the custom xB’s.
Scion tC—All-new for 2011, the tC boasts an all-aluminum 2.5-liter I4 engine that delivers more power and better fuel efficiency, a sport-tuned suspension for a more dynamic overall driving experience, a standard eight-speaker/300-watt sound system, and fresh sheet metal—inspired by the Scion FUSE concept—for a striking appearance.
Scion iQ—Ready to prove big things really can come in small packages, the iQ is slated to launch early next year as Scion’s first entry in the premium micro-compact segment. But while its dimensions may be tiny, it will still have a big-time Scion presence thanks to its trendsetting good looks and plenty of standard content.
And remember, all 2011 Scion models also come standard with a two-year/25,000-mile complimentary maintenance program with 24-hour roadside assistance. Consider it just one more way you can rely on Scion.

iQ News Update!

So......A little Scion bird told me something the other. I can't quote this "bird" exactly and we arent even sure if this is 100% true.....BUT it looks like the iQ could face delays till about June. The reason that was given...again not sure if this is 100% accurate......Mr. Toyoda did not think it was fun enough to drive. He wants to explore tweeking the suspension and tires to make it more of a fun car to drive. If that is the reason I'm all for it. Guess we will just have to wait and see......
